18 Months After Acquisition of Racing Strasbourg: BlueCo Continues the Revolution
In June 2023, BlueCo 22 Limited, led by Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbhali, finalized the acquisition of RC Strasbourg Alsace for €75 million. This purchase secured 99.97% ownership from President Marc Keller and a group of local investors. Alongside this acquisition, BlueCo Alsace (Company Number: 952912491) was registered as the entity responsible for overseeing the club's affairs.
Initially headquartered at 3 Boulevard De Sébastopol, 75001, Paris, BlueCo Alsace relocated in June 2024 to 12 Rue De L’Extenwoerth, 67100, Strasbourg. This strategic move solidified its commitment to transforming Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace.
Leadership and Governance
Mr. James Bonington, now the Chelsea FC Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer, served as the inaugural President of BlueCo Alsace from June 29, 2023, to September 1, 2023. Following his tenure, a Board of Directors was formed to drive strategic alignment and governance. The board members include:

BlueCo’s transformation efforts included appointing Mr Pascal De Maesschalck as Technical Director from AS Monaco. His role centres on talent identification and squad development. Additionally, Liam Rosenior was appointed head coach, replacing Patrick Vieira. This shift signalled a new footballing philosophy focused on tactical innovation and player development.
Financial Investments and Recruitment Drive
Over the past 18 months, BlueCo injected €39.5 million (excluding recruitment budgets) into Racing Strasbourg through direct advancements and equity changes, ensuring financial stability. Complementing this, approximately €125 million (excluding add-ons) was invested in acquiring young and promising talents worldwide. These investments reflect the club’s ambition to compete at the highest levels of European football.
